Industry insurance

Insurance cover is essential in providing financial protection and security to you and your family.

We understand the risks of working in the building, construction and allied industries. It’s an unpleasant thought, but what would you do if something happened to you and you were no longer able to work because of serious illness or injury? How long could your family survive without a regular income if you passed away?

Media Super is proud to offer our members insurance options that can be tailored to meet the needs of people working in the building, construction and allied industries.

When you join Media Super Industry Super, most members qualify for our default level of Death and Total and Permanent Disablement (TPD) cover.

We also offer eligible members access to higher levels of cover appropriate to your circumstances and needs, as well as Income Protection cover for Professional and Non-manual occupations.

The cost of insurance is paid direct from your super account, so you won't need to budget to make insurance payments provided you have enough money in your super account. You'll have peace of mind knowing you're covered.

Insurance in Superannuation Voluntary Code of Practice

Our commitment to you regarding insurance

The Insurance in Superannuation Voluntary Code of Practice was created to help ensure the cover you can get through your super is affordable and suits your needs. Super funds have until 30 June 2021 to fully comply.

We understand the needs of our members working in the building, construction and allied industries, and have built affordable insurance to suit these unique conditions. This means we already meet the overall intent of the code and many of its requirements.

From 1 July 2018 when the code started, we’ve been working towards meeting the rest. We’ll continue our work to fully adopt the code and report on how we meet its standards before it takes effect in June 2021.

Read about our transition plan in more detail.
